- A Douglasville business owner says she lost thousands of dollars after being the victim of a phone scam. Kimberly Melson, the owner of Kimberlite Events, said a man claiming to be connected to her bank called her and asked her to verify her account information to deny any suspected fraudulent activity. Douglasville Police are currently investigating the incident. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- A Douglas County cornerback has signed on to play football at West Virginia University. Jacob Boyce reportedly received over twenty offers from various schools, including Boston College and Cincinnati. Boyce was ranked the 69th best cornerback in the country following the Under Armor All-American Combine held earlier in the year. (247Sports)
- Douglasville Police Department is asking the public for help in locating a missing person last seen in hospital ride Area. Homer Sherman Callaway is 6’1″ tall, weighs about 330 pounds, and may walk with a cane. Anyone who sees Callaway or has information as to his whereabouts is asked to call 911. - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will host the Night of the Blue Lights Car Show Visit the Douglas County Courthouse on August 12 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to see a variety of police vehicles and show cars, or register your own vintage vehicle for $25.
