Here are the top three stories in Canton-Sixes today:

  1. The canton police are asking for help in locating a missing person. Everett Young was last seen in the Riverstone Parkway and Liberty Boulevard area. He may be in a gray 2015 Ford Edge with the GA tag TBX8327. The missing man is believed to be in the Woodstock area. No description was given for Young, but the image posted online shows a black young adult with short, trimmed facial hair. You can see the picture at the link. If you have any information about the missing man, please contact Det. Fulenwider at 770-720-4883. (Canton PD via Facebook)
  2. A young teenager went missing in the area on February 12 and has still not been found. Alyssa Smith, 16, ran away with two other teenagers and while the other two were found, Smith is still missing but is believed to be in the Atlanta area. Smith is described as a white woman with blue eyes and hair dyed red or blue. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. You can see her picture at the link. 3. In addition to roundabout work scheduled for May 30-July 31 at the junction of Union Hill Road South and Lower Union Hill Road, the county has said another construction project is likely to cause traffic slowdowns and congestion. Beginning May 30, Union Hill Road will be closed at Highway 20 as part of the GDOT Highway 20 Widening Project. The work is expected to be completed in 90 days, in the meantime traffic will be diverted through East Cherokee Drive. Detour signs will be posted and flags will be deployed at designated locations. From my notebook:

  • Our amazing seniors are graduating again today, here are the times for today’s ceremonies. Expect traffic around First Baptist in Woodstock to be heavier than usual. There is activity in the church before and after each ceremony, so the slowdown may start more than an hour before each ceremony. Congratulations to the graduating students of Sequoyah High School and Woodstock High School – These ceremonies begin today at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively. (CCSD Messages)
