GRIFFITH, Ind. – Two people were shot during a custody exchange Friday evening in northwest Indiana.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., Griffith Police responded to the 1500 block of N. Arbogast St. for a report of shots fired.
According to police, when an officer arrived at the scene, he was stopped by a motorist who said his vehicle had been shot at. The officer then discovered that two people had suffered gunshot wounds.
According to police, an investigation revealed that the victims were at the scene of the custody exchange. They were met by a known perpetrator who fired a single shot into the victim’s vehicle, striking both the passenger and the driver.
The injuries sustained in the shooting were not life-threatening, police said. Two suspects were later taken into custody and charges are pending.
