Nice Hope, Mo. Neighbors are reacting to the physique of a lacking man discovered close to properties
PLEASANT HOPE, Mo. (KY3) — Greene County detectives are investigating a murder near Pleasant Hope after finding the body of missing person Dan Myers, 51.
Authorities said they have one person in custody but have not yet released any information about him. He was reported missing in March.
Zoe Mason, who has been living on the street for a few years, said times like this get the blood pumping.
“I can’t believe it, I’m not used to it. So I keep my guns loaded because you never know what’s going to happen,” Mason said. “Makes your heart race and keeps your doors locked.”
MPs were responding to a call from a dead body at 167 North Farm Road near Pleasant Hope on Wednesday night, and Token Turpin, who stopped by, said she didn’t even know what the commotion was about.
“When we found out it was like a body or something, it really made our hearts skip a beat like wow, like really?” Turpin said. “Like it’s scary.”
Deputies said Myers was originally reported missing more than two weeks ago and over the past week they quickly switched their investigation to a homicide based on new leads.
Mason and Turpin are scared it happened so close to their home.
“My dog was outside in the yard yesterday and when he hears the sirens go by he starts singing letting me know something is up,” Mason said.
“It’s just crazy to think it was in the back yard, up the hill, we can see the police lights out the back window,” Turpin said.
Mason said she hopes this is the last incident of random violence.
“I’m older and older and I don’t know anyone out here, so it scared me,” Mason said. “I’m scared to hear that this type of crime is going on right here.”
