ISLAMA BAD:
Islamabad’s Supreme Court (IHC) on Wednesday dismissed a recovery claim for a missing person after she “returned home” while her case was pending in the Supreme Court.
IHC Judge Amir Farooq heard the pleading regarding the recovery of missing person Jameel Mehmood and his alleged unlawful detention by law enforcement. The petition was submitted by Jameel’s brother, Shehzad Mehmood.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that Mehmood had returned home, leaving the petition unsuccessful.
The IHC then rejected the application.
Last month, another missing person, Munib Akram, returned home while her case was being heard at the IHC and was brought before the Supreme Court by police.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah presided over the hearing on a petition filed by Munib’s father, Mohammad Akram.
Asked by the Chief Justice about his whereabouts, Munib said he was sleeping at home on August 19, 2022 when he was violently called to the door by unidentified people in Shalwar Kameez.
He added the men then asked him for his laptop password and told him to “never use” the social media platforms Twitter and Facebook.
The victim went on to say that she was “scared” and eventually dropped off in the Kallar Kahar area after being held for five or six hours. He then claimed he stayed in a friend’s village for about 40 days and did not tell his family about his situation out of “fear”.
