Police have continued their search for Ana Walshe, Cohasset’s mother of three, who disappeared early on New Year’s Day.
“The search for missing person Ana Walshe in Cohasset continues. Police are supporting along with our state partners, the @MassStatePolice,” the Cohasset Police Department tweeted just after 10 a.m. Saturday.
Police are searching two more areas today, including with the help of police K-9s, according to department spokesman Justin Shair.
State police spokesman David Procopio said a search by soldiers and local police for Walshe or evidence related to her disappearance is ongoing.
“This includes a ground search, an air search by the State Police Air Force Wing and a search of small bodies of water in the area by State Police divers,” Procopio said. “At the same time, the investigation into her disappearance by state police and Cohasset Police Detectives also continues.”
The fire marshal’s office said Cohasset and state investigators had determined the fire that broke out Friday at Walshe’s former home, 725 Jerusalem Road, was “not suspicious.”
“The fire was accidental and started in the area of damaged plumbing connected to a natural gas fireplace insert,” said Jake Wark, spokesman for the state fire commissioner’s office, adding that space heaters are the second leading cause of home fires in Massachusetts.
The four current occupants of the home, which Walshe and her husband bought for $1.38 million in March 2022, were not injured in the two-alarm fire.
Any information regarding Walshe’s whereabouts should be directed to tips@cohassetpolice.com, Shrair said. On Friday, the department also directed tips to Det. Harrison Schmidt at (781) 383-1055, extension 6108, or by email at hschmidt@cohassetpolice.com.
Shrair added that the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the search down there, where Walshe works as a regional manager for Tishman Speyer, a real estate developer and property manager, the Herald previously reported.
Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley said she commutes to work in DC several times a month, where she maintains a townhouse and a car, so it wasn’t unusual for her to get a ride to Logan at 4am on Jan. 1 used International Airport for a flight to Reagan International Airport in DC
However, he said at a news conference Friday morning she did not board a plane that morning and his office could not confirm she boarded a ride-on vehicle at all.
She was reported missing by her husband and Tishman Speyer on Wednesday, Quigley said.
According to police, Walshe is 5ft 2 and weighs 115 pounds. She also has brown hair and eyes and an olive complexion. She is originally from Serbia, the Herald reported, and graduated from the University of Belgrade there.
