Central Texas authorities warn of lacking individuals social media scams

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A central Texas sheriff’s office is warning residents about missing person social media scams.

The Bosque County Sheriff’s Office said in a post that there are several “missing persons” scams circulating on Facebook and other social media sites.

“DO NOT SHARE posts about missing persons if you do not know the originator or know that the person is actually missing,” said Bosque County Sheriff Hendricks.

In addition to requesting search help and resources, if a person in Bosque County goes missing and is not found within a short period of time, authorities will release and share the information to warn citizens to be vigilant and vigilant.
