To enhance the annual Palkhi ceremony of Sant Shrestha Sri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj, Pune Police have implemented real-time GPS tracking.
The revered palanquin procession, starting from Shri Kshetra Alandi Devachi and Sri Kshetra Dehu, is scheduled to arrive in Pune on June 12 (Monday).
To ensure smooth traffic flow and timely information for citizens and motorists, the Pune Police have set up their own website diversion.punepolice.gov.in.
Check this webpage for up-to-date information on the Palkhi route, road closures, open roads and the current location of the palanquins.
Pune Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr stated that accessing the website via mobile devices or laptops will allow citizens to stay informed and avoid potential traffic congestion during litter departures.
To track the live location of the processions, four motorbikes equipped with GPS systems are used. These vehicles will accompany the move. This measure will allow for timely updating of officers, staff and the control room, aiding traffic management along the route.
In addition, parking facilities for trailers and palanquin vehicles have been established at the SSPMS College Grounds, Sinchananagar and at the racecourse. Detailed information about these car parks can be found on the diversion.punepolice.gov.in site.
