The following statement comes from Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves:
Christchurch Police are growing concerned for Yanfei Bao, who was reported missing on Wednesday July 19.
Ms. Bao’s disappearance remains unsolved and the missing persons investigation is ongoing.
She was last seen plying her trade as a real estate agent on Vickerys Road in the Wigram area.
That was at 10:30 a.m.
She has since been unable to pick up her daughter from daycare and her car, a silver Nissan Dualis, was found near the Iroquois Place area where she was last seen.
Today, police searched several areas and found Ms. Bao’s cellphone on the Southern Motorway near Blakes Road.
But Ms. Bao remains missing.
We are now interested in hearing from any citizens who were out on the freeway on Wednesday and noticed anything unusual.
Anyone with information, no matter how small, is asked to contact the police immediately.
Police also conducted house-to-house interviews in the area where she was last seen.
If you live in this area and have not spoken to the police but have access to CCTV footage of the street area, the police would like to hear from you.
I want to reiterate that the police and Ms. Bao’s family are deeply concerned for her safety.
This is totally out of character and her loved ones are dying to hear from her and know that she is safe.
If you have any information about them or their whereabouts please call 111 and quote event number P055385539.
The following statement is from Ms. Bao’s husband:
My family and I are deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of my beloved wife, Yanfei Bao.
Our 9 year old daughter and I are desperate for any information that could help the police locate her.
Yanfei is a dedicated real estate consultant and got involved with the local community by knocking on the door when she went missing. We haven’t heard from her since then.
We are incredibly concerned and are asking for help from anyone who knows anything.
We pray for Yanfei’s safe return and want to thank everyone for their vigilance and support during this time.
We would like to ask for media privacy while the police investigation is ongoing.
