Government on QR code of drinking water tankers; GPS tracking devices will become mandatory

Digital Goa, July 20 – The Goa government has mandated that all water tankers delivering potable water in the state for drinking purposes only must be registered with the Public Works Office. Each registered water tanker will be issued with an online registration certificate and QR code by PWD, which must be affixed/sticked to the water tanker in a prominent place. The ministry has also issued a number of guidelines for such tankers, including mandatory stainless steel inner liners. The water tanker must also be equipped with a GPS tracking device. The vehicle is tracked by PWD. In the event that any misconduct is found, the tanker will be de-registered with the PWD and will not be registered for a period of at least one year from the date of de-registration, the statement said.
