The Election Commission has decided to install a GPS location tracking system in all vehicles used for election purposes in West Bengal, an official said.
A message to this effect had been sent to election officials, he said on Monday.
“The GPS tracking system will be used to monitor the movement of EVMs (electronic voting machines) and other election materials from the Distribution/Distribution Center and Receiving Center (DCRC) to the polling station on the day before the elections to ensure that none takes place Manipulation if you put them in the vault after the election,” the official said.

The poll body has asked the administration to take immediate action if any discrepancies are found besides questioning the drivers of the affected vehicles and the staff in charge of the EVMs, he said.
Meanwhile, the commission on Monday appointed joint secretary, school education department Arnab Chatterjee as joint returning officer.
Chatterjee will succeed Rahul Nath, an official order said.
The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal will be held in all seven phases from April 19 to June 1.
