Asha workers protest against GPS tracking, low wages

Hyderabad: ASHA worker protested here on Thursday before the District Medical and Health Officer and called for the removal of the GPS tracking system, the facilitation of excessive workload and the implementation of fair wages. Under the banner of Telangana Asha Workers Union (Citu), they submitted a representation in which their long -term symptoms were presented.

The demonstrators called the GPS, which were intrusive and humiliating, especially for workers. “We are already overloaded and underpaid. Now we are being monitored as if we are not trustworthy, ”said union leader T. Yadamma.

The workers also made concerns about the unrealistic expectations of the workload, such as: They reminded the officials that the commissioner had previously assured them that the goals of prenatal care (ANC) would be removed. In addition, Asha employees are asked to clean health centers, a task that does not fall under their responsibility. The union called for the officials to issue clear instructions in order to stop this practice.

An important demand was a fixed content of 18,000 RS per month as well as PF, ESI services and occupational safety. Demonstrators insisted that the government of Telangana had to officially announce the revised salary scale in the upcoming meeting budget meeting.

They also called for promotion options for Ashas, ​​which have completed a note training, the implementation of earlier government examinations, insurance coverage of 50 Lakh and paid vacation on Sundays and festivals, which was promised but never implemented. The union also applied for RS 5 LAKH in old -age provision, toilets in hospitals, high -quality uniforms and promptly outstanding fees from previous health programs, including polio and leprosy surveys.
