According to Wcbradio and Cumberland Times-News, the skeletal remains of a missing person were discovered almost two years after his missing person in Maryland.
The 53 -year -old Lawrence Ray Aleshire was reported by his son on March 9, 2023, who at the time when they had not been in contact for several weeks, according to a press release from Cumberland on March 11, 2023, had no longer been in contact.
Aleshire's remains were discovered on Tuesday, March 4, in the Independence Street in Cumberland, Md. After someone had reported to the authorities that they had found skeletal residues when using a metal detector in a forested area.

The authorities arrived at the scene, searched for the forest area and confirmed that the remains per Wcbradio were human. A second and more expansive search started a week later on March 11, 2025. The second search found a nearby campsite together with a backpack and documents with Aleshire's name.
The remains were brought to the Chief Medical Examiner (OcMe) office, and a forensic anthropologist made a positive identification between Aleshire -known medical records and the remains. A cause of death could not be determined, according to the WCBradio.

A Gofundme page was created to collect donations for the funeral costs of Aleshire. “Our family asks for help to cover the costs to finally rest it. Thank you for everyone who had asked him and our family in their thoughts and asked,” was the description.
