Mason County – a missing person from Norton Shores, Michigan, was found alive in a heavily forested area in Mason County thanks to the thermal imaging technology.
On Sunday, April 6th, at 1:57 p.m. Mason County Members were called to a reported burned vehicle south of the countyline road and west of the Morton Road in the Grant Township by Mason County. It was reported that the vehicle of the reported person from the Norton Shores police department corresponded to a reported person.
A search was started immediately in the vehicle and in the area. The search included members of the Mason County Sheriff office, Grant Township Fire and the Droone of the Mason County Sheriff's Office. The Norton Shores police authority, the Little River Tribal Police and Manistee County have also supported on site.
At 7:08 p.m., the missing person was about 150 meters from her vehicle in a heavily forested area that was next to a depressed tree. It was confirmed that this person was the missing person of Norton Shores. She was found alive and spoke to MPs at the scene.
It was learned through interviews, surveillance videos and a trail camera near a seasonal home that the victim left the Little River Casino on Thursday to probably return to Norton Shores. It was lost and landed on a long driveway of a seasonal home. When trying to turn around, the vehicle was hindered and caught fire.
The victim left the vehicle; However, she forgot her cell phone in the vehicle. When she tried to return to the car, she was lost. A trail camera conquered the vehicle that came in and the victim went out. Video evidence showed that she had not returned. It was next to a depressed tree to look for protection during the rain on Thursday evening. She got cold to the point that she could not return to her feet on Friday. She stayed on the floor until it was found on Sunday evening.
In 2015, the MCSO received its first drone from a generous donation from a citizen. Today, the Sheriff office bought three drones with the support of the Mason County Board of Commissioners and Grants and a team of MPs with specialized training in their company.
Finally, the MCSO equipment, which enables internet access via Starlink satellites. With little or no mobile phone service in this area, the threat team was able to access Starlink to connect to the drones.
