The search for a missing kayak driver, which fell into the water along the American river near Auburnia, California, was brought into the queue on Sunday due to poor conditions, the office of the Placer County said.
The missing man was on a kayak with another man when her ship kented in a quick water on Friday evening under the NO Hands Bridge near Auburn, the office of the sheriff said.
The other man reached near rocks and made it back ashore, said the sheriff's office. The missing person was not identified and civil servants said it was not known whether they could still be alive.
“It is difficult to say,” said Elise Soviar, a spokesman for the sheriff's office. “You never want to give up hope until you know.”
The authorities started on Friday after the missing kayak driver. A diving team also went on the water on Saturday morning when the efforts between air and water search were continued all day long, she said.
Soviar said the search was suspended on Sunday due to water flow and visibility. The conditions determine whether the search will be resumed on Monday.
Although the river looks inviting for a sunny day, the authorities say that people should avoid going into the water during this time of year.
“The water is very, very fast and it is very, very cold because it comes from the mountains and this is a well -known dangerous part of the American river,” she said.
The Sheriff's office was teamed up with the Nevada-Yuba-Placer unit from California. State Parks, the Sheriff's office by El Dorado County and the California Highway Patrol also offered support on Friday.
