A New York man has been found dead after falling on Schroon Lake

The body of a Schenectady man was recovered Saturday at Schroon Lake after New York State Forest Rangers investigated a snowmobile incident. Forest Rangers were called to Schroon Lake around 2:15 a.m. on March 4 to assist in the search for a missing person suspected of falling through the ice while snowmobiling on the lake earlier in the evening. The rangers responded in an airboat, but snow and wind conditions slowed the response, officials said. At 8:47 a.m., rangers recovered the body of a 71-year-old man and turned it over to Schroon Lake Rescue. The New York State Police has taken over the investigation into the case. No further information was given about the man’s identity.
