Vallejo police have arrested a man for suspected robbery after the suspect accidentally stole a GPS tracker along with money.
On the afternoon of August 2, police reportedly responded to a report of a robbery at a store on Sonoma Boulevard. According to the caller, an unknown man entered the store, jumped over the counter, attacked an employee and stole approximately $3,000 from an open safe.
The suspect then fled the scene without realizing that he had also taken a GPS tracking device with him.
Officers tracked the coordinates and located the suspect at another business in the 3500 block of Sonoma Boulevard, where the suspect allegedly asked for the cash register. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene.
A review of his records revealed that he was a convicted felon on parole who had been convicted multiple times for theft, police said.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the county jail.
