Afghans who bask in infidelity are stoned, fingers chopped off for theft, report, South Asia Information
The “Ministry of Virtue Propaganda and Vice Prevention”, banned after the US invasion of Afghanistan, has resurfaced in the war-torn country under the authority of the Taliban.
According to the New York Post, the infamous ministry was known for implementing the Taliban’s strict interpretation of Sharia law, which included a ban on women from leaving their homes without a male companion, as well as a ban on music and other forms of entertainment.
“The main purpose is to serve Islam. Therefore, it is compulsory to have a ministry of vice and virtue,” said Mohammad Yousuf, who heads the central zone of Afghanistan.

“We will punish according to Islamic rules. Whatever Islam guides us, we will punish accordingly. Islam has its rules for serious sins. For example, killing someone has different rules. If you do it on purpose, if you know the person and purposely kill the person, you will be killed back. If not willful, there may be another penalty, such as paying a certain amount of money. If there is a theft, the hand is cut off. If there is illegal sex, the offenders will be stoned, “he said.
“We just want a peaceful country with Islamic rules and regulations. Peace and Islamic rules are the only wishes we have, ”he added.
During the last Taliban government, which lasted from 1996 to 2001, women were required to wear a burqa and not go outside without a male guardian.
The times of prayer were harshly imposed and the men were forced to grow beards.
According to the New York Post, moral police have been set up on every street to punish violators with harsh penalties such as flogging, amputation and public executions.
Signs of such incidents are reappearing on the streets of Kabul.
Yousuf is from Baghlan Province and claims to have attended conventional school up to ninth grade.
He then studied Islam for 13 years before “preaching the wisdom of Islam” for the last decade, despite insisting that he never received military training or fired a single bullet.
He said, “All we want is a peaceful country with Islamic rules and regulations.”
Yousuf goes on to mention that the revived Vice and Virtue Ministry, now headed by Mohamad Khalid, will most likely move to the same building as the Home Office, run by Sirajuddin Haqqani, who has a $ 5 million bounty on his head.
