A’Ibom normal supervisor beats girl to dying for alleged infidelity

The residents of Ikot Abia village in Eket parish, Akwa Ibom state have fallen into a state of disbelief following the murder of 40-year-old Patience Christopher by their husband, Pastor Ukachukwu Christopher.

Christopher, 49, the general overseer of the Omega World Global Ministry (Fellowship Church) in the area and a native of Ebonyi State, reportedly beat his wife, a mother of five, to death on Wednesday after accusing her of infidelity .

It was believed that he buried her body in a shallow grave on his property to cover his tracks.

Police PR officer Odiko Macdon said on Thursday that the suspect had been arrested according to credible information from local youths.

“Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested a Ukachukwu Enoch Christopher for murdering his wife and burying the body in a shallow grave on their premises.

“On June 16, 2021, around 2 pm, the DPO of the Eket Police Division, CSP Sunday Digha and the team arrested a Ukachukwu Christopher, founder of the Omega World Global Ministry (Fellowship Church), for the murder of his wife Patience Christopher.

“The suspect, who had domestic differences with his wife, accused her of being the source of his numerous ailments in life and of his infidelity, and admitted to beating her to death on June 9th because of the unresolved differences. To cover his tracks, he dug a shallow grave on his site and buried it. The body of the deceased was exhumed by the police and deposited in the morgue for an autopsy.

“Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner Andrew Amiengheme has instructed the State Investigation and Intelligence Division’s deputy police commissioner to take the matter up for a discreet investigation and has given assurances that the suspect will be brought to justice as soon as possible,” it said it in the declaration partially.
