Though Jackson’s resurgence has revealed a four-year secret, Vaughn claims that it seemed inconceivable that her sister would simply be cut off from her family and friends back home.

Previously, Vaughn described her determination to find Jackson – a 23-year-old college student who left Birmingham in late 2018 to pursue her musical dreams but disappeared from the radar after texting her family in late 2019.
“After that, all communications were shut down,” Vaughn told AL.com. “None of the numbers we had for her were good.”
Vaughn said she and other friends and family last spoke to Jackson on the phone around Christmas time in 2018 and soon discovered that her Instagram account had been deleted, deepening the mystery of her whereabouts the following year.
“In late 2019 we were trying to make decisions about what we were going to do and then the pandemic happened,” Vaughn said, according to AL.com.
At the time, Vaughn said her job as a traveling nurse stole her focus. Their concerns were also addressed as family members still received text messages from Jackson from time to time and on special occasions. However, whenever the family tried to call her number back, they could not reach her.
The whole experience left Vaughn in disbelief.
“I know something is wrong deep down,” Vaughn said at the time. “I know this is not like her. When I say that no one has spoken to her, I mean no one. “

Vaughn initially hit a dead end after asking the US consulate in Munich for help. She also filed a missing person report with the Bavarian State Police, which found “no records of Jackson’s departure”.
Vaughn also launched a GoFundMe page that has raised just over $ 3,000 to help her and her father travel to Germany in the coming weeks in hopes of finding a sign from Jackson.
Meanwhile, Vaughn managed to get into her sister’s emails and find out the identity of Jackson’s boyfriend, and then she reached out to his boss and landlord.
