From Roxana Hegeman, Associated Press and KFDI News:

A federal appeals court ordered the immediate release of a Russian mother whose case attracted international attention after she was convicted of kidnapping for bringing her children to Russia from the United States during a divorce.

Bogdana Alexandrovna Osipova was convicted in Kansas last year of a number of international parent abductions and two cases of blackmail attempts.

A three-judge panel of the US 10th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the two extortion convictions and upheld the conviction for parental abduction in August. The appeals court on Wednesday ordered her release pending re-conviction. She has already served the maximum three-year prison sentence permitted for the remaining number.

Osipova left Sedgwick County in 2014 while divorced from husband Brian Mobley.
