Belen Police Department officers searched East Mesa near Rio Communities for any sign of Jack Williams. Williams went missing earlier this month. His family describes what they are going through as a nightmare. “So you see this on TV. You watch these all the time, all these shows. And when you’re there, it’s absolutely devastating and unreal,” said Krystal Baca, Jack Williams’ niece. Williams is known for being funny and cheerful. “He’s a big man, but he has a big heart.” He loves to laugh. He loves to joke. All the kids love him and he’s just a people person,” Baca said. Williams is also a retired correctional officer. Belen Police Chief James Harris told us the area where his truck was found was searched multiple times. “We have little clues that we found here and there we combed through those clues to the best of our ability and they all turned out to be invalid. They had no meaning,” Harris said. According to Harris, there are at least three missing person cases in Belen. Harris says he doesn’t believe all three cases are related: “I don’t think the Jack Williams cases were related in any way. “But the reason I wanted to highlight all of this is because they are all three missing people and they are all three people who have gone missing in Belen over the course of a year,” said Harris, the Williams family do not give up. “There are a lot of properties that I don’t think we will acquire. And I just feel like we need to dig a little deeper. We have to push a little harder because someone knows something, someone knows something,” Baca said. Chief Harris also shared information on two additional cases that he believes have suspicious circumstances. Rachel Beard disappeared three days before her 20th birthday in June. “According to the information we received, she went to the so-called old baseball field up on West Mesa, over by Penny’s Diner. And then you just never heard from her again,” Harris said. Harris told KOAT that Beard had a history of drug use and was known to sell sexual photos online. According to police, it was difficult to narrow down who she was meeting because many of her communications occurred online. “At that point we executed search warrants for her phone. We have search warrants out for her based on her social media activity.” While social media, phone pings and DNA usually aid police in their investigations, this is not the case with 35-year-old Jessica Montoya. She was last heard from on Thanksgiving 2022, when she left her son in the care of her aunt to go to the casino. Her car was found covered in blood less than two weeks later. “It was at the 98th Street exit in Albuquerque, at the top of the highway,” Harris said. The initial analysis of this blood showed no match. When police served a search warrant for her phone, the last ping occurred near the Veteran’s Hospital on Gibson Boulevard in Albuquerque. Chief Harris encourages community members to report tips regarding these cases. “There is nothing too small. If anyone gives me information I will follow up. We will continue to pursue the matter,” Harris said. Amy information about these cases can be reported to Belen Police at.
