Although Seth's husband denied the allegations against him, the court barred Venkat Raman from communicating with his wife or child except on certain days. Raman was given weekly visitation rights, which angered Seth. Authorities have suspected that the issuance of this court order may have been a factor in her decision to harm her child.

How Suchana Seth was caught
Goa police arrested Seth on Tuesday as she fled to Karnataka with her son's body in a bag. She was caught after apartment staff discovered a blood-stained towel while cleaning her room and immediately called the police. Law enforcement agencies then contacted the taxi driver who was transporting Seth to Bengaluru and directed him to the nearest police station.
The autopsy report revealed that the child had no problems at all when he was suffocated with a pillow. Officials suspect this may have been due to the use of cough syrup to incapacitate the victim.
Authorities discovered two empty cough syrup bottles in Seth's room, the suspected murder scene.
