Bengaluru CEO Suchana Seth is demanding hefty maintenance payments of ₹2.5 lakh for the husband accused of physical abuse
The investigation into the tragic death of a 4-year-old boy in Goa has taken a surprising turn. Police now believe that the mother, 39-year-old Suchana Seth, may have premeditated the crime and fabricated a subsequent suicide attempt.
Seth, a startup CEO, was embroiled in a heated divorce battle with her husband Venkat Raman. Local media reports citing Live Hindustan detail Seth's demands for maintenance payments of ₹2.5 lakh per month and claim that Raman's annual income exceeds ₹1 crore. She also accused him of physically abusing her and her son and submitted WhatsApp messages and medical records as evidence. While Raman denied the allegations, he was placed under a court order restricting communication with his wife and child except on certain days. The weekly visitation rights granted to Raman reportedly angered Seth, and authorities suspect this legal decision may have played a role in her actions.
The domestic violence case was last heard on December 12, 2023, more than three weeks before Seth and her son moved to an apartment in Candolim where the alleged murder took place. The hearing was then postponed to January 29, 2024. The couple married in November 2010 and their son was born in August 2019. They have lived separately since March 2021.
Mother used cough syrup to kill her son.
Seth, 39, was arrested on Tuesday as she tried to flee Goa with her son's body in a bag. The gruesome discovery occurred when apartment staff cleaning her room found a blood-stained towel and alerted authorities. Police intercepted the taxi that was taking Seth to Bengaluru and arrested her.
Initial reports suggested Seth may have attempted suicide, but authorities now believe she may have made up the story. The evidence points to an intentional act and suspicions mount that Seth drugged her son with cough syrup and then suffocated him with a pillow. Two empty cough syrup bottles were found in the apartment, presumably at the crime scene.
