Body of man found during missing person search near Arbroath

A man’s body has been found near Arbroath during a missing person search.

After police were alerted on Wednesday afternoon, they carried out searches near the city.

An RNLI lifeboat from Arbroath was also launched just after 5pm to assist in the search.

The man’s body was discovered shortly afterwards near Kellie Castle, near Arbirlot.

The man’s identity has not been released.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 5.20pm on Wednesday, following a call, officers found the body of a man in woodland near Kellie Castle, Arbirlot, Arbroath.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the Crown Prosecution Service.”
