Burlington police report GPS tracking devices on cars from Canada

A public service announcement from the Burlington Police Department warns residents that trackers are being found in cars returning from Montreal.

Last month, two reports of Airtags and other Global Positioning System tracking devices were discovered in Vermont vehicles returning from Montreal. The press release states that Canadian authorities are aware of this activity.

Although this is an ongoing investigation with limited information, Burlington Police were able to provide some information about what residents can look out for.

Sarah Hernandez Timm, public relations and community engagement officer, said in an email that “GPS tracking devices may be located under the hood of the car, at the top (toward the grille).” However, she advises those from Montreal return to check the entire car.

Those who found a tracker in their vehicle or have additional information are asked by Burlington police to call 802-658-2704. An officer will come by to collect the evidence.
