Martindale-Hubbell® Client Review Ratings ™ display reviews submitted by clients of attorneys and law firms.

The evaluation of the customer review is determined by aggregating validated responses. Individuals filing reviews are clients of law firms who have hired an attorney in the past year, whose matter is pending and who wish to share their experience with that attorney or law firm with other potential clients. Reviewers can be anyone who hires an attorney, including in-house attorneys, officers, small business owners, and individuals.

Martindale-Hubbell confirms that the investigator is a person with a valid email address. As part of the review process, respondents are required to confirm that they were a client of the lawyer or law firm identified last year, even though Martindale-Hubbell cannot confirm the lawyer-client relationship as it is often confidential. The content of the answers comes exclusively from customer reviewers.

Previous results do not guarantee a similar result and Martindale-Hubbell assumes no responsibility for the content or accuracy of reviews.

Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings ™ have been the gold standard for attorney reviews for more than a century. These ratings indicate attorneys who are widely respected by their peers for their ethical standards and legal expertise in a particular area of practice.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard because of its objectivity and completeness. The lawyers requested for peer reviews include those selected by the lawyer under review as well as lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys who have practiced for at least three years and who have received a sufficient number of reviews from unaffiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a rating.

What are the Different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?* *

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating means that a large number of the attorney’s colleagues rate him or her at the highest level of professional excellence based on their legal knowledge, communication skills, and ethical standards.

• Excellent: An excellent rating for a lawyer with some experience. This rating indicates that the lawyer is widely respected by his peers for high professional performance and ethical standards.

• Remarkable: This rating indicates that the lawyer has been recognized by a large number of his colleagues for having strict ethical standards.

Lawyers who received peer reviews after 2009 display more detailed information, including areas of activity, summary ratings, detailed numerical ratings, and written feedback (if available). Details of individual reviews received prior to 2009 will not be displayed.

Lawyers who receive peer reviews, but not enough to compile a Martindale-Hubbell peer-reviewed rating, post those ratings on our websites.
