Now Cynthia explains the split from her ‘good friend’ and what led to the decision as she hits back at cheating reports.

Cynthia Bailey says Mike Hill split is a common move and ‘not a bad thing’

The model shared in her first interview since announcing her impending divorce from Hill that it was a step together that they “came to with grace and peace.”

“It may not seem like it when you’re thinking about divorce or the end of a relationship, but that’s not a bad thing for us,” Bailey, 55, told PEOPLE on Wednesday. “This is not a tragic end for us. These are two people who have enough love and respect for each other to be honest about their relationship and ask themselves, “Are we really happy together? How do we want to move forward?’ And then they were brave enough and loved each other enough to make that decision together.”

She added that she’s grateful she learned to separate from a spouse early rather than “fight” like she did in her previous marriage to Peter Thomas…

“The beauty of the whole situation is Mike and I, we’ve learned from our past relationships,” she continued with PEOPLE. “[Peter Thomas] and I was married for almost eight years and we had a lot of problems during those years; I didn’t want to wait eight years to find out it wasn’t working or we weren’t as compatible as we thought. And Mike is the same.”

and noted that after realizing they were both unhappy, they made the decision to just be friends.

“We’ve always said we never wanted to feel like we were there just to be there. We didn’t want to settle for anything less than satisfied. And we just got to the point where, after a thorough evaluation, we felt that we were better suited to just being friends than trying to make something work that just doesn’t work anymore.

Cynthia Bailey denies Mike Hill cheated in her marriage, admits marriage was strained after moving to Los Angeles

Despite a recent video of Mike having fun with a pole trainer who appears to be a friend of his…

Cynthia brushed off rumors that he cheated in their marriage. This comes after a 2021 story surfaced alleging Hill had sent nude videos and explicit texts to an unnamed woman.

“To my knowledge, there was no infidelity,” Bailey told PEOPLE. “Mike never had sex with another woman during our marriage,” she says. “At the end of the day, it was just a bunch of things. And I respect Mike and our marriage too much to go into the details of those things, but it wasn’t anything scandalous, we just grew over each other.”

She also noted that things got strained between them after they moved in together in LA

“People say all the time, ‘You don’t really know someone until you live with them.’ And for us, our relationship has long been bicoastal. Once we were able to be with each other on a more consistent basis — and we really, really started to get to know each other — we found we weren’t as compatible as we thought we were,” she explains. “So we did something about it, very simple.”

Speaking of Cynthia’s move, some people didn’t know that she sold her $960,000 condo in “Lake Bailey,” previously starred in the Real Housewives of Atlanta. The actress shared the news of the Black Love: After Love finale with Mike Hill back in August.

In total, Lake Bailey had 2,058 square feet of living space on a 1.48-acre lot with six bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Obviously, “50 Cynt” was in it for the long haul as she let this beautiful home go to her husband.
