Vallejo experienced a highly dramatic moment last Thursday when a local business was robbed. That afternoon, at around 1:38 p.m., an unknown man burst into a store in the 3600 block of Sonoma Blvd., jumped over the counter and attacked an employee before fleeing with $3,000 stolen cash from an open safe, Vallejo police reported.
The criminal's escape was short-lived, however, as he made a lucky mistake, according to the Vallejo Police Department's Facebook page. Unbeknownst to him, he had also taken a GPS tracking device with him, which officers used to track him to a nearby store in the 3500 block of Sonoma Blvd. There, he was in the process of asking about the cash register when officers arrested him, preventing a possible second robbery.
After he was caught, police showed his picture to witnesses to confirm his identity. They found that he was a convicted felon who was already on parole for previous thefts. This type of repeated behavior often leads people back into the prison system.
