Database for state missing persons who have not been updated despite free local cases

Cibola County, NM – As of July 29, only one of five cases in which the grants were recently reported is listed in the Missing Plearinghouse area of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, although all five cases that have now been solved by local law enforcement authorities.

Between May and July 2025, five people in the area of grants were reported as missing, including four teenagers and an adult woman. Some of the initial cases were only publicly shared via social media contributions and were not followed by formal warnings. In the weeks after the first reports, law enforcement authorities confirmed that each of the people was found or otherwise taken into account.

Since then, the following people have been released from active examinations and no longer appear on the Missing Clearinghouse of the state: • Loretta Guthrie, 60 years – registered on May 7, 2025,

• Ericka Estrada, 17 years – registered on June 16, 2025

• Leah Marley Leon, 15 years – registered on July 4, 2025

• Skyla Cornelius, 14 years – reported on July 10, 2025 grants The police confirmed that Leon and Begay were reported shortly after the missing person. In previous statements, the Cibola County Sheriff Larry Diaz confirmed that Guthrie and Estrada were also taken into account, and said his department also found Cornelius. All people listed above are no longer considered missing.

Until Monday, July 29th, Destinee Begay, 15 years, who was reported on May 4, 2025, will be listed in the state's Clearinghouse. Grant's police confirmed that Begay was found on the same day when she was reported missing.

Criminal prosecution authorities stated that they are working with the New Mexico Department of Public Safety to correct and update the database. There was no timeline for when these changes would be publicly reflected.

The Cibola citizen will continue to monitor the Clearinghouse and provide updates as soon as they are available.
