Datuk Red and Adira are officially divorced, Adira is not demanding maintenance from her bankrupt ex-husband

The nine-year marriage between entrepreneur Datuk Seri Adnan Abu and singer Adira finally ended in divorce as the couple officially divorced with Talak Satu on Wednesday (April 24).

The 46-year-old businessman announced the talak before Sharia Judge Abdul Hadi Omar at the Lower Sharia Court of Gombak Barat, Rawang, Selangor at around 9.40am, mStar – The Star's Malay-language portal reported.

Adnan, also known as Datuk Red, appeared distressed and bowed after announcing the divorce while Adira appeared calm.

At the same time, 32-year-old Adira Suhaimi also agreed not to demand maintenance from Adnan.

When met outside court after the trial, Adira told mStar: “I don't want anything because I don't want to burden my ex-husband anymore.

“Everyone knows he’s unwell. We pray for the best for him.”

“If his situation improves later, he can provide (the finances) for our children.”

In March, Adnan revealed that he had filed for bankruptcy in 2019 and had since relied on Adira's support as he had been unable to find a permanent job.

Adira filed for divorce from Adnan on October 25, citing a lack of understanding.

She had already filed a similar application against Adnan on April 1, 2019, but withdrew it to give her husband a chance to care for their four children between the ages of six and two.

They got married on December 3, 2015 in Songkhla, Thailand. She is his second wife.
