David Hasselhoff wants to reduce his ex-wife's monthly alimony payments of $21,000 and plan his retirement

David Hasselhoff and ex Pamela Bach agree to lower spousal support after he claimed he had ‘less than $4,000 in liquid assets’

David Hasselhoff's $21,000-a-month child support payments are making it impossible for the actor to think about retirement. Now he's asking a judge to relieve him of paying the claims.

The “Baywatch” actor filed legal action to either stop or significantly reduce spousal support for his ex-wife Pamela Bach, whom he divorced in 2006 after 16 years of marriage.

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Hasselhoff has paid his ex-wife more than $2.3 million since their divorce 10 years ago, not including money for child support for his daughters, who were teenagers at the time of the separation.

“I am 63 years old and at an age where I should be preparing for retirement and not having to keep working to pay [Bach’s] support,” Hasselhoff said in the legal documents.

The actor said that his gross monthly income, which is listed in the documents as $112,000, makes it impossible for him to continue to cover his expenses and spousal support.

Furthermore, Hasselhoff notes that Bach, whom he describes as “an attractive woman in excellent physical health,” did little to find work and earn a living.

She worked as an actress in the 1980s and 1990s, but since her divorce she has only appeared as an actress once, on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011, according to the docuseries. Bach, whom Hasselhoff describes in the docuseries as “very capable, resourceful and talented,” continues to enjoy a “privileged lifestyle” without having made “reasonable efforts” to earn a living.
