New Delhi, Sept. 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) A man has been arrested for allegedly cutting his wife’s throat and suspecting her of infidelity, in the Maujpur area of Delhi, police said on Monday.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Northeast) Sanjay Kumar Sain said a PCR call was received at Jafrabad Police Station around 9am on Saturday saying a woman was lying injured at a house in Maujpur, Delhi, after which a police team immediately rushed to the scene and found the woman identified as Fatima, wife of Shahden Malik aka Shan aka Suhaib, lying dead in a pool of blood with sharp injuries to her neck and also stab wounds to her back.
The husband of 22-year-old Fatima went missing, making him the prime suspect, and during the preliminary investigation it was revealed that the couple had been renting the house in question for the past month and a half.
Accordingly, the police registered an FIR under Section 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code and began investigating the incident.
During the investigation, pressure was put on the parents of the suspect Shahden who lived in the area of Old Mustafabad, Delhi, which ultimately led to his whereabouts and the accused was arrested.
In prolonged interrogation, the accused Shahden confessed to having committed the murder of Fatima together with his friend Asif (19). His associate Asif was also arrested.
The investigation also revealed that Shahden had recently married Fatima after staying in a relationship with her for several months, however Shahden’s family was unwilling to accept their marriage which ultimately put a strain on their relationship.
Defendant Shahden also revealed that he had doubts about his wife Fatima’s character and had warned her on several occasions.
“After being frustrated by the prevailing circumstances, he finally decided to get rid of them and also involved his friend Asif in the planning,” the DCP said.
On the day of the incident, Shahden and his friend Asif were having a party somewhere in Delhi and he returned to his home in the early hours of Saturday morning. Upon entering the home, Shahden had another altercation with Fatima, after which he attacked her with a knife and later fled the spot.
