The woman traveled to Delhi to buy the cannabis from a man identified as a Pawan before returning home, planting the weeds in her husband’s rickshaw, and then calling the police in the vehicle about suspicious drugs.

At first, the plan worked as planned, and the police arrested the husband after finding the drugs. During the investigation, however, the woman’s involvement in the program began to appear, reports the police spokesman.

This involvement ended with the woman’s arrest and the seizure of 700 grams of cannabis. “It was produced in court and taken to prison. Investigations are ongoing to track down and capture Pawan who she bought the drugs from, ”he told The Indian Express.

The police hunt for Pawan continues.

According to The Economic Times, India’s 1985 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and state excise laws, “the use of cannabis or one of its by-products is restricted” and it is “illegal to possess cannabis flowers and buds and their by-products.” “.

If caught with a small amount of weeds it could result in a year in prison. Amounts “less than the commercial amount but greater than the small amount” could be punished with up to 10 years in prison, while so-called “commercial amounts” could result in a prison sentence of 10 to 20 years, SensiSeeds reports.

However, the drive for full legalization and weed consumption continues. The country opened its first medical cannabis clinic last year, and at least one Indian state has legalized the cultivation of weeds and their use for industrial and medicinal purposes.
