A dog was rescued from a 600ft cliff in the Highlands by mountain rescuers using its GPS tracking collar.
Chinook, described as a “wolfhound,” was separated from her owners and found stuck on a small ledge near the summit of Am Bodach on Wednesday.
Adam Archibald, her owner Hollie Ivy’s boyfriend, contacted the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, who assembled a seven-person rescue team to help the stricken animal.
By tracking the GPS collar attached to Chinook, the team was able to locate her and complete a drop and transport before leading the dog down the rest of the hill.
The dog was successfully rescued and was unharmed.
When the animal was finally reunited with its concerned owners, it turned out to be unharmed.
A spokesman for Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team said: “GMRT was asked to participate after a dog became separated from its owners and became stuck on a small ledge near the summit of Am Bodach.
“Fortunately, the dog’s owners had a GPS tracker for the dog, so it was easy to locate him.
“Team members had to lower and then pull the animal to get it into a position where they could lead the fortunately uninjured dog down the hill to reunite it with its owners.”
Hollie described the rescue team as “legends” as she expressed her gratitude. She has since launched GoFundMe, with all money raised benefiting Glencoe Mountain Rescue.
She said, “I want to say thank you to the men and women who have brought my girl back safe and sound and for helping her have more of what they need to help others … dogs and people alike.”
“There are no words to express how grateful I am that she is sitting right next to me in the passenger seat again today. legends.”
