Drone helps to find stranded woman near her burned vehicle in Mason County

Mason County, me. – Mason County's deputies found a woman Norton Shores on Sunday who had been missing.

“We didn't really expect a positive result. Fortunately, our drone found it,” said Sheriff Kim Cole, Sheriff of Mason County.

It was found about 150 meters from her vehicle in a forest area in Mason County's Grant Township on Sunday evening after 7 p.m.

According to Kim Cole, Sheriff Kim Cole, south of the Countyline Road and west of the Morton Road, she and her burned vehicle were found.

“It is a remote, bleak area. There is not much traffic up there,” said Cole.

The MPs were initially informed about the burned vehicle on Sunday afternoon. They used a drone to examine the area and found the missing person next to a dilapidated tree. She spent days outside in the elements.

“The weather was not the largest up here. It rained on Thursday evening, and on Saturday morning it was 27 degrees here in Ludington,” said Cole.

The missing person left the Little River Casino on Thursday. On the way back to Norton Shores she lost and landed home on a entrance to a season. The sheriff's office said she tried to turn her vehicle around and while the vehicle caught fire.

“They found the vehicle burned. It was a coincidence, it was a seasonal home up there. The homeowner came up on Sunday for some reason. And the car found the call,” said Cole.

The woman left the vehicle and forgot her cell phone, it says in the press release of the sheriff. When she tried to return to her car, she lost herself.

A trail camera showed the vehicle that drove and later the missing woman went.

The publication of the sheriff office says that it lay down next to a dilapidated tree to avoid the rain in the area on Thursday evening. She got cold and couldn't get back on her feet on Friday and lay on the floor until Sunday evening.

“She is tough. I will give her that. She is tough. We are only grateful that she is doing well,” said Cole.

Several agencies helped Mason County to look for the missing person, including the Norton Shores police, the Sheriff's office by Manistee County, the Little River Tribal Police and the fire department of Grant Township.
