Ex-Blue Bomber QB Brock appeals little one help and faces home violence prices

Former Winnipeg Blue Bombers star quarterback Dieter Brock was charged 15 times in court contempt and sentenced to 75 days in prison on March 22nd in Alabama for failing to pay alimony to his ex-wife.

Brock, 70, was released from Shelby County Jail Monday after appealing to the Alabama Court of Appeals.

Brock also has third-degree domestic violence charges pending for an incident on September 24, 2019.

The trial date is April 20 in Pelham Municipal Court. Pelham is a town in Shelby County where Brock and his family lived.

Winnipeg Blue Bomber QB Dieter Brock played 10 seasons with the Bombers from 1974 to 1983.

Brock, nicknamed The Birmingham Rifle, was eligible for the blue and gold from 1974 to 1983 and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player in 1980 and 1981. Brock holds the record for all passes (29,623), TD passes (177), and degrees (2,167) in Blue Bomber history.

After two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, he ended his career in the NFL in 1985 with the Los Angeles Rams. At the Rams, Brock completed 60 percent of his passes, throwing 16 touchdowns, 2,658 yards and 13 interceptions leading the team to the NFC championship game.

Brock was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1995.
