Fan Bingbing is able to seem within the new Ok-drama Insider

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is ready to make her K-drama debut with upcoming JTBC drama Insider. The series will premiere later this year, although the exact release date has not yet been officially announced.

According to the report published by The Korea Herald on Feb. 21, JTBC had officially confirmed that Bingbing has completed her part of filming the drama. While it’s not yet known if the actress will have a cameo role or star as the lead, the actress’ presence herself has piqued fans’ curiosity about the drama.

“Although the actor has joined Insider, detailed information about Fan Bingbing’s role has yet to be revealed as it is closely related to the plot and storyline of the series,” JTBC said in its statement.

So far, Fan has starred in the 2011 South Korean war film My Way, which will make her role in Insider her second milestone in her Korean language career and her K-drama debut.

Kang Ha-neul (When the Camellia Blooms) and Lee Yoo-young star in the upcoming action thriller drama called Insider. Kang will play Kim Yo-han, a court intern who ends up in prison after becoming involved in an undercover investigation. Meanwhile, Lee plays a successful and wealthy entrepreneur named Oh Soo-yeon.

The series will be 16 episodes long and will premiere on JTBC. Director Min Yeon-hong and screenwriter Moon Man-se are responsible for the project.

Fan’s early film and television appearances were in East Asian cinema and television, most notably in the drama series My Fair Princess (1998–1999). Cell Phone (2003), her breakthrough film, was China’s top-grossing film of the year. She has starred in a number of Chinese films, including Lost in Beijing (2007), Buddha Mountain (2011) and Double Xposure (2012). Fan received awards at the Golden Horse Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, San Sebastián International Film Festival and Golden Rooster Awards for her role as Madame Bovary in the film I Am Not Madame Bovary (2016).

Stretch (2011), My Way (2011), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) and the Hong Kong-Chinese-American thriller Skiptrace are among her overseas cinema roles (2015).

Fan was named to Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2017 at the 2017 Time 100 Gala in Manhattan. In April 2017 she was appointed to the jury of the 70th Cannes Film Festival. In the same year, she starred in China’s first air warfare film, Sky Hunter. Several companies, including ReFa Beauty Care Tools, De Beers, King Power and Montblanc, have named Fan global ambassadors. Fan starred in Cao Baoping’s crime film The Perfect Blue in 2018. That same year, she began filming alongside Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, Sebastian Stan and Édgar Ramrez in the spy thriller 355, which was released in January 2022.
