Fayetteville man charged with first-degree murder after missing woman found dead in woods :: WRAL.com
Fayetteville police arrested and charged a man Thursday in connection with the death of 25-year-old Heather Williams, who was previously listed as missing and endangered.
Investigators have charged 30-year-old Tyrell Siermons of Fayetteville with first-degree murder.
During a further investigation into the missing person case, police were led to the woods near Newark Avenue and State Avenue where they found Williams' body.
Police began investigating Heather's death as a murder.
Her sister Mary Williams urged the public to help identify the person responsible.
“Someone has to know something,” Mary Williams said. “I just pray that everyone who knows comes forward so we can get justice for Heather.”
While her family searched for her, Heather's sister contacted someone listed in Heather's phone book as she left the house for the last time.
In a text message, she asked him what car he was driving and whether he had picked her up that night.
“He said he met her on Facebook, either through Facebook Dating or Messenger, he couldn’t remember which. “He said he hung out with her one night but wasn’t sure if it was Saturday night,” Mary said.
“It just makes me angry. You would think people wouldn’t do something like that,” she said.
Mary contacted the person who called her and he confirmed in writing, “Yes, the car that picked her up was this car.”
She believes this person is the same person who was arrested and charged with first degree murder.
The police did not want to confirm this connection or provide any details about the case.
Mary hopes what happened to her sister serves as a cautionary tale for people to be careful and know that the people you meet online are not always who you think they are.
Authorities are holding Siermons at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bail.
