Francesco Totti spouse infidelity marriage fails

The 45-year-old Italy international claimed his marriage to Ilary Blasi fell apart because she failed to support and show up for him following his retirement from football and his father’s death from Covid-19.

Totti retired from football in 2017 and admitted he struggled to cope without being on the pitch, having played over 780 games for AS Roma before tragically leaving his father in October 2020 lost to covid.

During these challenging times, the former Roma skipper felt his wife was absent when he needed her comfort and support.

“I went through a difficult time, first because I stopped playing and then my father died of Covid.”

“I also had a strong Covid (disease) for 15 days. But my wife wasn’t there when I needed her most.’ Totti told Corriere della Sera as quoted by Marca.

After their separation, there was also some speculation that Totti Blasi could have cheated with his new partner Neomi Bocchi before she retaliated.

However, Totti has tried to set the record straight by declaring that he actually found out last year that his wife Blasi was cheating on him.

“It’s not true that I was the first to betray. I said I wouldn’t speak and I didn’t, but I’ve read too many hoaxes in the past few weeks. Some have even made my children suffer,” he added.

“In September last year, the rumors reached me: ‘Look, Ilary has another one. Actually more than one.”

“I had never done that in twenty years, and she had never done it to me either. But after receiving warnings from various people I trust, I began to distrust.

“I looked at her cell phone and saw that there was a third person acting as an intermediary between Ilary and another.”

Totti also admitted that finding out about his wife’s infidelity severely affected his mental health and left him in a state of depression, while crediting his newfound love Bocchi with helping him get through this difficult time in his life.

“Here was the proof (of the affair). The facts. And that led me to depression. I could no longer pretend nothing had happened, but it wasn’t me anymore, it was someone else. I got out thanks to Noemi,’ he said.

Totti and Blasi are now likely to settle their issues in court, but the former Roma star is hoping it won’t come to that.

“I’m afraid Ilary will end up in court. I still hope we can come to an agreement.

“Now I’m silent. This afternoon it cost me six months of my life. I would have liked to have spoken a thousand times about football and Roma, which I always carry in my heart,” he said.

Meanwhile, Blasi is yet to respond to the allegations at this time, with her lawyer, Alessandro Simeone, declaring on her behalf: “I have always protected my children and will continue to protect them.”

However, according to Corriere della Sera, Blasi reportedly told friends, “I discovered things that could ruin about fifty families,” suggesting she has her own side of the story to tell when she feels the time is right is.

That time could come before the courts, and the report adds that Totti and Blasi’s relationship has deteriorated even further since their split two months ago.

We can only imagine how the man widely regarded as the most loyal footballer of this generation would be feeling ahead of his recent revelation.

Still, it’s also a frightening reminder that no one is certain about heartbreak regardless of the circumstances.
