Be careful what you steal.

It may have a tracking device.

That's what a Mocksville man learned last week after Davie Sheriff's investigators used that GPS tracker to locate him and a Kubota skid steer loader that had been reported stolen from a nearby construction site.

Zacharia Shade Shrewsbury, 25, Oak Tree Drive, was charged Sept. 24 with theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was held in lieu of $10,000 bail and awaited an Oct. 17 appearance in Davie District Court.

“The equipment (worth $60,000) was equipped with a GPS tracking system and officers located it at 114 Oak Tree Drive,” said Sheriff JD Hartman. They also learned that it had been operated by Shrewsbury.
