Grandma kills husband (81) for infidelity

A 62-year-old woman was arrested in Darwendale on charges of killing her 81-year-old husband on Sunday after a dispute over allegations of infidelity.

Mary Banda is said to have been fighting with her husband Nira Benet, 81, who was confirmed dead on arrival at Father O’Hea Hospital from respiratory problems and was reported to the police, leading to Banda’s arrest.

National Police Deputy Police Spokesman Paul Nyathi said Banda and Benet were fighting when Benet began having trouble breathing and was taken to Father O’Hea Hospital.

But he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

In another case, police in Gwanda arrested Thandazani Ncube, 31, on charges of fatally assaulting his 15-year-old wife over alleged infidelity.

Police are also investigating a child murder case in which the body of a young boy was found in a landfill near Morgan Zintec College in Harare on Tuesday.

In another case, Epworth Police are investigating an unlawful abortion case in which a fetus was found under the Home Industry Bridge in Epworth on Tuesday.

Kadoma Police have arrested three wanted persons, Darlington Daniel Mawuta Pichesi, 18, Richard Pichesi, 18, and Clifford Stanford Chibhutu, who were wanted in connection with a robbery and two counts of theft in Kadoma in August 2022.

Police investigations linked the suspects to another theft case, in which they stole two solar panels in Kadoma in November 2022. On Sunday, police in Bulawayo arrested Thulani Banda, 30, for a robbery in which he and an accomplice were still at large, stealing a Honda Fit vehicle, a cellphone and $100 cash from a taxi driver at Nhliziyo mall in Entumbane.

Police recovered Banda’s stolen vehicle.

In another case, police arrested Tinashe Joram, 32, at around 11am on Sunday for stealing a motor vehicle in Norton.

The suspect stole a Toyota Corolla vehicle (ABX 4962) which the complainant left unattended with the keys in the ignition.
