Grundy County Woman Convicted of TennCare Fraud and Theft for Lying About Custody | Tennessee

A Grundy County woman has been convicted of fraud and theft for lying to the state to receive TennCare benefits.

The Office of Inspector General (OIC) said 38-year-old Crystal Myers of Altamont was convicted of one count of TennCare fraud and one count of theft of services.

The OIC said Myers falsely claimed to have custody of her two children so that she could receive TennCare benefits herself.

If Myers had provided accurate information about custody of her children, she would not have been eligible for TennCare benefits, according to the OIC.

Myers was sentenced to four years of supervised probation and ordered to pay $12,339.06 in restitution, including a $50 fraud fine and a $75 payment to the Economic Crime Fund.
