Hillary Clinton claims that her husband’s infidelity was brought on by his troubled childhood

While infidelity is a deal breaker for most marriages, the former first lady chose to stand by her husband after he had an extramarital affair with a White House aide, regardless of the evidence against him. She cited his difficult childhood as the reason for his betrayal.

The 42nd President of the United States and his first lady met back in the 1970s when they were both studying at Yale Law School. Their first official meeting took place in the university library.

Bill proposed Hillary in 1973, but Hillary wasn’t ready, so she turned the proposal down. She soon accepted, however, and the new couple married two years later, in 1975, in the living room of their new Arkansas home.

A MARRIAGE WITH DISCONSTRUCTIONS

In his book, Bill and Hillary: The Marriage, veteran Celebritologist Christopher Anderson delves into the nearly 50-year-old marriage, which he says is steeped in infidelity, sexual assault allegations, and betrayal.

Worst of all, the chatter about the many testimonials from women Bill dawdled and even assaulted over the years, including a Juanita Hickey Broaddrick.

Anderson ponders how interesting it is that Bill’s ever-loyal wife, Hillary, even though she was aware of her husband’s criminal nature, stood by him and never wavered in her loyalty to marriage, which has stood the test of time.

He calls marriage a heartbreaking story. Though the couple have held the “most notable” title in history for years, Bill Clinton, whom he called “The Warden,” cheated profusely and regularly.

THE BILL LEWINSKY SAGA THAT SHOCKED THE WORLD

It was 1995. Monica Lewinsky was 21 years old and had just graduated. She was looking for an internship in the White House office in Washington, which was headed by Chief of Staff Leon Panetta.

Her family connections had brought her there, and she was determined to gain all possible experience during her time at the White House, but she was ill-prepared for the scandal that followed.

Still, Hillary stands by her decisions, saying that everyone should make their decisions based on what they think is best for their friends and loved ones.

The story begins in 1994 when a former Arkansas employee Paula Jones sued Bill for sexual harassment, claiming that Bill proposed to her when he was governor.

In 1998, the legal team working on the case received an anonymous tip that Bill was having an affair with a White House intern, Lewinsky. As soon as the news got out, Lewinsky was transferred to the Pentagon to begin a position there.

There she met Linda Tripp, who would soon become a confidante and friend. Without Lewinsky’s knowledge, Tripp had recorded all of their conversations and shortly thereafter passed them on to the press, exposing Bill.

FORMER FIRST LADY LEARNS FROM THE AFFAIR

Caught in the eyes of impeachment and a family looking up to him, Bill finally came to his wife after denying the affair many times before.

He says he told her exactly how, where and when it happened, adding that he felt terrible. And after the news was shared with his wife, Hillary was devastated by the betrayal.

She asked Bill to tell her 18-year-old daughter about his transgressions, and he did just that. Chelsea, like her mother, was shocked by the news.

And yet, despite the pain it caused her, Hillary was unwilling to leave the marriage and decided to stand by her husband through thick and thin.

WHY DID HILLARY FORGIVE HER HUSBAND’S INJURIES?

For many married people, one case of infidelity is enough to separate them. Still, Hillary persevered in not one but several of her husband’s deceitful attitudes and apologized for her husband the whole time.

When asked why she chose to stay married to Bill, Hillary said she did what she thought was right for her family.

Hillary described her husband’s wrongdoing as “the sin of weakness, not malice”. She explained that as a young boy there was an ongoing conflict between his mother and grandmother, so Bill had to choose which side.

This was a terrible situation for a little 4 year old and could have been the likely reason for the President’s infidelity. According to the Los Angeles Times, Hillary said in an interview with Talk Magazine:

“Yes, he has weaknesses. Yes, he has to be more disciplined, but given his background it is remarkable that he has proven himself to be the kind of person capable of such leadership. “

Speaking to ABC America, Hillary says, as reported by the Guardian, that the bravest thing she ever did was to stay in marriage.

She says she got through long and complicated discussions, religious beliefs, friends, and soul searching through the drama that sifted through the news media for years.

Their mantra is that they work things through. Her husband was ashamed and regretted what he had done to her, her family, and the whole country. However, his slip-ups did not undo everything he’d done as a husband, father, and president.

In her documentaries, Hillary points out that she decided to reconsider her husband’s extramarital affair in order to help others. On the Ellen Degeneres Show, Today reports that she said:

“People need to be thoughtful about the choices they make in their own lives, and we should be more kind and supportive to anyone who makes the best decisions they think they can make.”

She says many of her friends beat her up for choosing to stand by Bill and even refused to support her political leanings. Still, Hillary stands by her decisions, saying that everyone should make their decisions based on what they think is best for their friends and loved ones.
