QUETTA: The home of Zakir Majeed Baloch, who went missing in Mastung some 14 years ago, was robbed in Khuzdar, taking away household items and other valuables from the family.
dr Shabana Majeed – Mr Majeed’s younger sister, who lives in the house but was not present at the time of the robbery – said that in her absence, unidentified people burst into the house after picking up locks and removing gold jewellery, a refrigerator, fans and other household items would have taken items.
dr Shabana said the house is locked as she is in Quetta with her family. “After looting valuables, the unidentified men tried to set the house on fire,” she said in a statement, adding that part of the house was damaged as a result. An FIR was filed with the city police station in Khuzdar, she said, adding that her brother Zakir Majeed disappeared from Mastung in 2009 and the family has had no information on his whereabouts since.
“Our family has been protesting for my brother and sister’s recovery for over 12 years. Farzana Majeed had also marched from Karachi to Islamabad on foot along with the organization Voice for Baloch Missing Persons,” said Dr. Shabana.
Police officials in Khuzdar confirmed the robbery at Mr Majeed’s home and said an FIR had been registered against unknown individuals. “Police visited the home and further investigations were ongoing,” they said.
