“Hopefully he had the foresight to signal a prenuptial settlement”: Tom Brady may lose over $200 million in alimony to Gisele Bundchen after an unpleasant divorce

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen are making headlines for living apart for the past few weeks. The couple began dating in December 2006 and married on February 9, 2009 during an intimate Catholic ceremony. They have two children together: a son born in December 2009 and a daughter born in December 2012.

It seems that things have gotten quite bitter between the couple with many reports claiming that they are splitting up and are seeking a divorce. Also, Brady could face financial difficulties after a final divorce.

While the split of Tom Brady, 45, and Gisele Bundchen, 42, seems imminent, there are many doubts about what will happen to their assets, prompting both parties to reportedly hire divorce lawyers. Although Brady and Bundchen have not officially split, there has been speculation that they are willing to keep joint custody of their children.

Sources say Gisele Bundchen has contacted a divorce attorney, but this is far from the first time media speculation has surrounded their possible split. Brady also reportedly hired his own attorney after Bundchen made the first move.

The pair reportedly had a falling out over TB12’s decision to return for his third season with the Buccaneers after regretting his retirement announcement last offseason.

The possibility of Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s separation or divorce has many wondering what it would mean for their finances.

Karen Jeary, an associate solicitor at divorce law firm Mayo Wynne Baxter, told Newsweek in an exclusive interview that Brady likely owes a large sum of money from his wife, according to Marca.

Continuing the interview, Jeary said:

“Given the size of Tom’s estimated net worth of $400 million and the fact that under US marriage law the starting point for dividing marital assets is 50/50, hopefully Tom had the foresight to enter into a prenup with Gisele to to protect him as much as possible his pre-acquired property”

Assuming this analysis is accurate, and Brady’s estimated net worth is accurate, Brady could be liable to his wife for around $200 million in divorce alimony.

Have Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen signed a prenup?

Many are wondering if Brady and Bundchen signed a prenup before a possible divorce. The fact that Bundchen and Brady are independently wealthy is a strong indication that they were prenuptial when they wed in 2009.

According to an insider close to Bummel, “The current prenuptial agreement is pretty uncompromising and lists how everything will be split should they split, but it needs updating and it may be if both parties agree.”

If this source is accurate, it suggests that the couple signed a prenuptial agreement prior to marriage. It would be surprising if Brady and Bundchen didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement due to their high net worth.
