Hunter Biden owes his ex-wife $2.9 million after a lengthy legal battle – and now his former wife is set to appear as a key witness in his upcoming trial.
Kathleen Buhle, who was married to their first son for 24 years before the couple separated in 2017, claims Hunter ignored agreed-upon child support payments, legal fees, interest and other debts owed to her over the years.
Buhle sued Hunter in 2019, shortly after he married his current wife, Melissa Cohen.
The dispute with Buhle had been simmering in the courts in Washington, DC, for years, and in 2021, Hunter was found to have violated his divorce agreement.

Now Buhle, the mother of three of Hunter's five children, is on the doorstep when Hunter is arraigned in federal court next week on illegal gun possession charges and again in September when Hunter goes on trial on alleged tax offenses.
The dispute is also mentioned in special counsel David Weiss's indictment for tax evasion against the younger Biden.
Their separation agreement stipulated that Hunter would pay Buhle $37,000 a month and 50 percent of any earnings over $875,000 a year, according to court documents obtained by Axios.
However, Team Buhle claims that Hunter failed to pay what he owed in 2017 and 2018, when he reportedly earned more than $2 million a year. The child support payments stopped entirely after she filed suit, her lawyers claimed to Axios.

The situation was the result of Hunter's well-documented descent into drug addiction, his lawyers said. However, the money was transferred slowly even after his recovery, Buhle's lawyers said in an April 2023 court document, according to the newspaper.
“Ms. Buhle has previously explained to the court that the cost and emotional toll this has taken on her is enormous and seems never-ending. Those feelings have not changed,” her attorney Wendy Schwartz wrote in the filing, according to Axios.

This is far from the first time Hunter Biden has tried to be a cheapskate with the women in his life.
Hunter Biden has a child with former stripper Lunden Roberts, which he denied for years until a paternity test confirmed that he is the father.
During 2023, he famously had a court battle with the mother of his child after attempting to reduce his child support payments to her. They finally came to an agreement in June 2023.
