Husband stabs spouse to demise for alleged infidelity in Ogun | The Guardian Nigeria Information

On Saturday, Ogun Police Department officers arrested a Sobola Olatunji, a 46-year-old Remo North Local Government employee, for stabbing his 38-year-old wife on suspicion of infidelity.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the spokesman for the command, said this in a statement made in Abeokuta on Monday. Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a complaint from the deceased’s father, an Alhaji Ambali Yinusa, who was reporting to the Owode-Egba division headquarters.

He noted that the deceased’s father said his son-in-law Sobola Olatunji had misunderstandings with his wife Momudat, which resulted in a physical fight between them. He went on to explain that Sobola Olatunji took a knife and stabbed his wife in the back.

According to the report, the DPO Owode-Egba Division, CSP Matthew Ediae, dispatched his detectives to the location where the suspect was arrested and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

But during the treatment the victim gave up the ghost.

“At interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to have been married to the deceased for 20 years, alleged that he suspected his wife was in an extramarital relationship based on some of the text messages he saw on her phone.

“He went on to state that it was when he challenged his late wife on his suspicion that an argument broke out between them that eventually led to the death of the mother of three.

“The body of the deceased was deposited in the Olabisi Onabanjo University morgue for autopsy,” he said.

He said police commissioner Edward Ajogun ordered the case to be immediately forwarded to the homicide division of the state crime and intelligence division for further investigation and prosecution.
