Ruth Eze, the Nollywood actress, says she cannot give up her marriage for infidelity.
The movie star revealed her views on marriage in an interview with Saturday Sun.
Eze said her late father once told her that men were inherently polygamous. She added that her father’s advice shaped her perception of men and marriage.
The actress also argued that infidelity is common among all men, including clerics.
Eze said that if she caught her husband with another woman, she would sit him down and talk about it instead of getting him in a fight.
“My late father told me that men are naturally polygamous. But he said if you’re lucky you’ll find the one who doesn’t rub it in your face,” she said.
“Well, if I catch him (my husband) cheating, that’s fine. Instead of arguing, we’re going to sit down and talk about it, because to be honest, every man cheats, even pastors and reverend fathers included. My girlfriend used to say, ‘Ruth, your kind of mind is what it takes to get through this life.’ Yes, I agree with her.”
“There is no man faithful (to his wife). I saw a man who cheated the day before his wedding. He wanted to get married the next day and they caught him with his girlfriend.
“I feel it is her nature and I will not leave a man because he is cheating. I will only leave a man when I see him being temperamental, violent, or toxic to my energy. But if it’s cheating, I won’t leave him.”
However, the actress said she couldn’t take domestic violence.
“Domestic violence is not one of the reasons I fear marriage. Look, no man can be violent towards me. You can not! I won’t let it happen,” she added.
“I’m educated, smart, brilliant, beautiful and talented, so I won’t let you be violent towards me. I am not one of those women who would allow a man to be violent towards them. You can’t be violent towards me. But with the crazy stories flying everywhere, I’m just scared.”
