Agra: A 48-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband in the Mainpuri district on Monday evening. The defendant suspected that her wife was in a relationship with another man. Mamta Yadav’s body was found in her home in the village of Rathera.
The couple had two sons. While one of them died in 2012, the other killed himself in December 2020.
Now the police have registered an FIR against the defendant Sukhveer Yadav, who fled the house after the murder. He’s a drunkard, said the police.
Preliminary examinations revealed that she was hit on the head with a stick. Her body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
Mainpuri Police Superintendent (SP) Avinash Pandey said a team was being formed to apprehend the defendant. FIR was registered at the Dannhar Police Station.
